Energy Efficient Lighting Study Tour

Irish Delegation in Germany – June 2012

(Frankfurt & Stuttgart regions)

Given the importance of energy efficient lighting to the Irish economy with the potential for currently utilised building infrastructure to realise up to 70% reduction in energy consumption related to lighting through switching to already proven alternative lighting technologies, the German-Irish Chamber of Industry and Commerce organised the above mentioned event with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi).

LEDVISTA Limited is proud to be part of the Irish delegation taking part in this intensive programme and tour of the Frankfurt and Stuttgart regions to examine first hand 15 projects deploying best practice state-of-the-art energy efficient lighting techniques designed and implemented by 8 accomplished German companies. The span of projects include: upgrade and expansion of conventional and historic lighting, revamp of street lighting in inner cities, commercial lighting in office buildings, illumination of buildings and other structures at a state garden show, lighting in public buildings, car park lighting, intelligent lighting systems and controls, among other applications. A primary objective of the tour is to learn from practice on how Germany is successfully utilising and benefiting from the best available energy efficient lighting technology and to identify practical and economically viable approaches to moving Ireland towards adopting the most suitable energy efficient lighting methods to save a substantial amount of money on reduction of energy consumption. Plans to overhaul and revamp Ireland’s street lighting are set out in the Irish National Energy Efficiency Action Plan.

This article will be updated to report on the experiences, insights and lessons taken from the study tour over the coming days.
